I drink coffee like it's my job. I have two cups a day and sometimes a third in the afternoon. I love my cream and sugar but I can drink it black. I love all kinds, the real stuff and the Starbucks sugary stuff. Dunkin Donuts has the best coffee by far, though.

Fire-Startes - Day 37
I have never started a fire.
I wish I could elaborate and tell a warm tale.
But unfortunately, I've never even lit a match.
But I do enjoy sitting by a fire and being with family.
There's nothing quite so comforting.
Puzzle - Day 36
Puzzles frustrate me so this isn't the best post for me.
I try but I don't have a logical mind and by the end, I'll have thrown puzzle pieces everywhere.
My daughter loves them though, so I enjoy watching her piece them together.
Frame It - Day 35
Follow your dreams
Live life to the fullest
Laugh as much as you can
Dance when you need to feel free
Sing like no one's there
War And Peace - Day 34
War can be anything from real war to an argument between friends. Sometimes peace can be found and sometimes the only peace can come from complete separation. It may not be what both parties want or maybe it is but that can be the only way for people to find calm. Sometimes time apart can bring people closer together.
Sounds - Day 33
I sat outside at lunch today and I heard sirens, cars, birds and wind.
I wish that what I had heard was gentle rain hitting the pavement.
Not a storm but a sun shower, to give some piece to the chaos of everyday.
Jewelry - Day 32
I have scene a plain silver cross on a simple silver chain.
It was given to a girl by a man who couldn't even touch it.
His love for her was so strong, he couldn't stay.
Rewrite a Poem - Day 31
Dreams - By Langston Hughes
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
Hold tight to fantasy
For they never fade
Life is a caged animal
That can't be freed
Hold tight to fantasy
For when it leaves
Life is a dessert
With no water
The Professor - Day 30
The teacher that has influenced me the most over my years in school is Dr. David Brooks. He was my Junior year World History teacher and he was so good I can still draw the entire world, freehand, and label the countries. He told history like a story which made it easy to learn and know, not just memorize. I haven't seen him since I graduated but he published a book which I loved as well. I'd love to let him know how much I appreciated his amazing work.

Shopping - Day 29
My shopping wishlist would be filled with movies and music and maybe a few clothing items. But I'm not really into shopping for clothes. I don't like to spend money unless I have to or it's an item I've been waiting for. Normally, things I want are no more than $30 but my husband is one who wants the newest video games and electronics which means that he costs me some money, haha!
Good Vibes - Day 28
Music cheers me up along with smiles from my children. But sometimes cranky kids mean that music is the only way. A good upbeat song, mainly Britney Spears will always make me smile. And if I'm really down, Aerosmith usually comes on the radio to cheer me up.

Shadows - Day 27
I think I'd like to be the shadow to someone who's new to a place I'm at everyday. How do they perceive it though non jaded eyes? What kinds of things do people tell them that they would change? How would the person process that and what happens once they've made up their mind? What do they think of people that I've already formed strong opinions on?
Closed Doors - Day 26
What's behind the door? Why is it closed? Two great questions but I can't think of any doors that I really need to have opened. Doors get opened for me on a daily basis. This question is hard but maybe a figurative door would be my dream to work in the writing of television and movies. Why is that door closed? Because I'm afraid to fail.
Fear - Day 25
Fight or flight? The age old question. What choice would you make? I always think I'd be one to run for my life but in times when I've been truly nervous because of someone's behavior or maybe a car almost hitting you in downtown Birmingham, I'm ready to fight for my life. I am really more afraid of what's in my own mind then everyday things so I imagine worst case scenarios in which I always run but I feel like I'd try to fight.
Dread - Day 24
Once I've learned something new, I dread doing it by myself. I know that I can do it but I'm always nervous to mess up. Once I do make a little mistake, though and realize that the world didn't end and it was easily fixed. My confidence is restored.

Numbers - Day 23
Seven is my favorite number
I do not know why
But if you ask me to pick
I'll always respond with seven
Maybe it's because of something from my childhood
Or just something I picked one time and stuck with
It will always be seven no matter what the real answer is
So, probably don't ask me

Sugar - Day 22
I bit into a freshly made rice krispie treat and the effect was staggering. As the sweetness hit my back teeth they lit up with sharp pains. It wasn't a cavity just a sensitivity to such sweet things. She wanted that treat though so she worked through the sore mouth as she enjoyed every last breath and the gooiness of the marshmallows.
Smoke, fog and haze - Day 21
She could barely see ahead of her as she drove in the early morning hours. The rain had come and gone but its effects had stayed. This was her least favorite driving condition. Rain was fine, even snow but fog was a thing of horror movies. She could only think of accidentally running someone over or worse a murderer appearing out of nowhere. She took deep breaths as she drove to work, hoping that the fog may clear before she parked because walking in it would be just as bad.
Foreclosure - Day 20
"What do we do?" a concerned wife asked her husband as she looked at her past due mortgage bill.
"We'll figure it out," he said, too nonchalantly.
The wife grew angry and threw down the bill, "We won't have a home anymore! How can you care so little?"
The husband shook his head, "I do care but I don't have a plan. We will find a place to live or I'll get the money together. Don't be scared," he finished trying to comfort her but he knew it wasn't working and he knew he didn't have a plan.

Missed Connections - Day 19
He saw her at the gym everyday after work for the past weeks and he never found the right way to say hey. The obvious conclusions was a craigslist ad but to the woman working out in the blue shirt this past Wednesday, there is a man looking for you.
I've never read the missed connections on craigslist before but it's quite the place for writing ideas, as my writing challenge said it would be. Work up the courage to say hi because I doubt the other person is wondering if you're looking for them on craigslist.

Great Minds - Day 18
If I had to choose someone who I really admire to share some thoughts on, it would be Myra Aultman. She is one of the smartest people I've ever met but she's not only smart, she's kind and generous. She takes the time to talk to her staff where some supervisors don't and she actually cares about her employees. She can do it all here at work which is something I strive to be able to do, someday. When something happens here she is the first person that comes to mind to call and she handles all situations with grace and poise. She is the definition of a great mind.

Cleaning - Day 17
It's Sunday afternoon which means its cleaning day. I start by dusting all the surfaces in my home before vacuuming. I have hardwoods now so I have to use my swiffer after. I then clean the bathrooms and the bedroom before moving on to laundry, or run it throughout the process. I enjoy cleaning so much and it really relaxes me. By the time I'm done I get to sit and relax with my family before the chaos of the week begins again.

Dictionary Definition - Day 16
My random word is alias. Alias, to me, means a code name that you go by when you don't want people knowing who you are. I have an alias with my good friend but if I put in on here it wouldn't be an alias anymore, so you'll just have to live in mystery.

Addict - Day 15
What's one thing I can't go without? I can think of a couple like television, twitter and coffee. Television and twitter go hand in hand as I only use it to tweet about my interests so if I gave up one the other would follow. I have no reason to give them up though as they don't interfere with my day to day life. And coffee is essential for me to be safe around other people. Ok, it's not that serious but I really love it.

Eavesdropper - Day 14
Should we get popcorn?
I don't know, do you want some?
No, I think just water will be fine.
Me too. And maybe some candy.
Are you line?

The Letter Poem - Day 12
Writing tips from C.S. Lewis
- Always try to use the language so as to make quite clear what you mean and make sure your sentence couldn't mean anything else.
- Always prefer the plain direct word to the long, vague one. Don’t implement promises, but keep them.
- Never use abstract nouns when concrete ones will do. If you mean “More people died” don’t say “Mortality rose.”
- In writing. Don’t use adjectives which merely tell us how you want us to feel about the thing you are describing. I mean, instead of telling us a thing was “terrible,” describe it so that we’ll be terrified.
- Don’t use words too big for the subject. Don’t say “infinitely” when you mean “very”; otherwise you’ll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite.
Very important words from a great write himself.
Words to live by and implement into your own writing.
I know I'll take them to heart as I work on my many projects,
please enjoy them as I've laid them out to you.

Friendship - Day 10
A friend is someone who will always have your back and that goes both ways. You can't have a one sided friendship where one is willing to go the extra mile to help but the other only wants convenience. Let me explain, a true friend will always come when you need them or at least make an effort to see you, especially on important days. A bad friend is the kind that always breaks plans and only wants to see you when they have absolutely no one else. So, a friendship is a ship where both sides have to be equal or you will sink.

Animals - Day 9
I looked over the rail of the ship to see a large black dorsal fin shoot from the water. It couldn't be a shark because the fin was too dark. The mystery was quickly solved as the fin disappeared before the animal spy hopped out of the water and revealed itself as a Killer Whale. The whale swimming in its natural habitat and not in a tank, like I'd seen previously, was the most majestic moment.

The Dream - Day 8
This is based on a dream I had about the most recent "Blacklist" episode. The last scene has haunted me since.
I knew he couldn't die as I kneeled, cradling his head in my lap. He's Raymond Reddington, the notorious criminal. Who could possibly kill this man? I held my coat to the bullet wound and knew it mustn't punctured a lung as he gasped for air, blood trickling out of his lips.
"You can't die," I told him, leaning down to whisper, "There's too much left for us to do."
I didn't know how but I was confident we would save him.
The Rocket Ship - Day 7
Sorry, I'm a day behind. Easter threw me off but I'm doubling up tonight.
I boarded the Millennium Falcon alongside Han Solo and Leia. It was my dream come true to travel the lengths of the galaxy beside these two great heroes. Chewbacca cranked the engine and there we went. I didn't know where we'd end up or how long we'd be out there but I couldn't wait to see all that the galaxy had to offer.
Sorry, it's hard not to enter my world of movies even in this writing prompt world.

Eye Contact - Day 6
I saw him across the room, our eyes locked instantly. I'd never seen this man before but it felt like I'd known him forever. I didn't want to break this intense moment by walking over there but part of me needed to meet him.
I decided to make the first move and make my way to him. "Hi," I said simply.
His lips curled into a smile, "Hi."
We didn't speak again for a long time as our eyes met each other once more.

Food - Day 5
i sat down for a delicious burger and beer. I was surrounded by great friends and fun music. We listened to girls night music which was followed by some comedy television.

Dancing - Day 4
Alan looked across the bar to see a beautiful brunette sitting alone. He didn't know why but he needed to dance with her. He got up and made his way to her.
"Would you care to dance?" he asked, turning on the charm.
The girl looked up to see a nice looking man in a very nice suit standing over her, "Sure," she answered simply.
The two got up and made their way onto the small area made for dancing. A slow tune started and Alan pulled the girl in close.
"What's your name?" she whispered, enjoying the protective hold he had on her.
Alan sighed, "We don't need to know names. That can only lead to hearbreak. Just enjoy this dance with a stranger and then return to your life.

The Vessel - Day 3
I started the engine of my 67' Shelby Mustang GT 500 to take me anywhere but where I was. I could go to the beach, the desert or the woods. As I drove down the highway, I realized it didn't matter where I ended up as long as the drive was special. And I knew it would be. On we go, Eleanor!

The Unrequited Love Poem - Day 2
Have you ever felt a connection that wasn't there?
Felt like you wanted to be with them but they didn't care?
Every love song on the radio brings them to your mind...
You should walk away but love is blind.
You work up the courage to tell them how you feel,
Pouring out your heart like you'd see on a movie reel.
But they stop you because they don't love you back...
You walk away feeling like your having an anxiety attack.

Outside the Window - Day 1
As I gaze out the window, I see cloudy skies bearing the threat of rain. The temperature is acceptable but it's certainly not a day where I would be glad to be outside. I would love to look out the window at the beach and see the waves crashing down on the sand. The sun would beam down and warm me through the window. If I was there, I would venture outdoors and soak in the sun as I laid on the sand close enough to the water that it could rush over my toes. But I'm not there and I will choose to spend the day inside.
Writing Challenge
So, I normally write at least three times a week on my fanfiction projects but I've decided to find a list of writing prompts for everyday and try it out. This blog is just for creative writing and I don't know how long each post will be but I will use the prompt as the title and just write what comes to me. I hope everyone enjoys it.
